Life Stage Financial Guides

Every financial decision,
mapped to your life stage

Real cost data, 2025 law updates, comprehensive insights tables, and actionable recommendations — organized around where you actually are in life.

Why organise money by life stage?

Most financial advice is organised by product — accounts, insurance, mortgages, pensions. That is how the industry is structured, but it is not how decisions actually arrive. Nobody wakes up wanting a mortgage; they want to stop renting. Nobody wants income protection; they want to know the family is fine if they cannot work.

Grouping by life stage puts the decision first and the product second. It also surfaces the costs people reliably miss, because the expensive part of a life change is almost never the part with a price tag on it.

What each stage actually decides

How to use these guides

  1. Start with the calculator, not the article. Put your own numbers in first — the general advice makes far more sense once you have seen your own figure.
  2. Check the country. Tax, benefits and thresholds differ enormously between the six countries covered, and a US answer is frequently the wrong answer elsewhere. Use the country picker in the header.
  3. Read the sources. Every figure is dated and attributed. Where a number is from an older survey, the page says so rather than implying it is current.

Everything here is educational, not regulated financial advice. The calculations run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
